What's Involved In Taking the Course?

The Grain Merchant Certification course is a "virtual classroom" that students can access from anywhere at anytime.   The course spans 16 weeks and takes students on a journey from the very basics of basis trading to the more complex skills of merchandising.  Students set their own schedules and utilize the training through several different resources:

• Interactive lessons are provided on a CD that is accessed through the student's personal computer.
• With each lesson reading and homework assignments are given in the accompanying "The Art of Grain Merchandising" textbook.
• Weekly reviews of the material are done in live on-line classes where students can actively participate in discussions and Q & A sessions.
• Additional training, updates and student bulletin board are accessible through the course website.
• Instructors provide each student with periodic assessment and review of examinations in private one-on-one consultations.  
• For the final exam, students are given the opportunity to put their skills and knowledge to the test in a real-world-like scenario.  This format provides valuable feedback that enables students to identify and address their strengths and weaknesses.
